Ortiz, Sox Slam Marlins
The Red Sox scored 6 runs in the 4th inning powered by a grand slam by David Ortiz (his 18th home run of the season) and a solo shot by Jarrod Saltalamacchia, en route to a 15-5 win over the Miami Marlins at Fenway Park. For Ortiz (pictured) it was his first grand slam since July of last season.
Among the offensive highlights for Boston were 4 hits by Daniel Nava out of the leadoff spot, a 3-run home run in the 2nd inning by Mike Aviles, his 9th round-tripper of the season, plus a 2-run shot by Will Middlebrooks in the bottom of the 8th.
The Red Sox offense torched the Marlins for 15 hits; every starter with the exception of Nick Punto had at least one hit.
Felix Doubront went 6 innings for his 8th win of the season.
