CODY ROSS DOES IT AGAIN!

One night after slamming White Sox pitchers for 10 runs, Chicago rookie lefthander Jose Quintana held the Red Sox to no runs through 8 innings on just 5 hits in a classic pitcher's duel against Clay Buchholz. That is, until Cody Ross took care of business in the bottom of the 9th inning with a 3-run blast deep into the Boston night over the Monster for a 3-1 Red Sox win.

The White Sox scored their lone run of the game on a sacrifice fly by Alex Rios in the top of the 4th inning. Buchholz allowed just 6 hits over 8 innings. He struck out 6 and walked just 1.

Carl Crawford led off the 9th with a single but was erased on a fielder's choice by Dustin Pedroia. Adrian Gonzalez singled to right and was replaced by pinch runner Nick Punto. Enter Cody Ross with his 3rd 3-run home run in two games.

Alfredo Aceves got the win in relief with a scoreless top of the 9th inning.
