So Maybe Padilla SHOULD Have Hit Him

The drama was there for everyone to see. Bottom of the 8th with a runner on, and the Red Sox leading 6-4. Vicente Padilla on the mound for Boston, Mark Teixeira at the plate for the Yankees. Two guys who clearly have some history. Twitter practically exploded with fans of both teams speculating as to whether Padilla would find a part of Tex's body with a baseball.

Padilla left a 2-1 fastball out over the plate and Teixeira tied the game with a 2-run blast into the right field stands.

Meanwhile, the Red Sox rallied for 2 runs in the top of the 9th inning on their way to an 8-6 win over the Yankees in the Bronx. Pedro Ciriaco tripled home Jacoby Ellsbury and Dustin Pedroia brought Ciriaco in with a sacrifice fly to make a winner out of Andrew Miller.

Adrian Gonzalez (pictured) had 3 hits and 4 RBI's in the win; one of those hits was a 3-run blast off Yankees starting pitcher C.C. Sabathia in the top of the 5th inning.

Alfredo Aceves pitched a scoreless 9th inning for his 22nd save of the season.

Jon Lester pitched 6 innings allowing 4 runs on 4 hits. He struck out 6 and walked 2 in a performance that while not vintage Lester, certainly was better than his last few outings.
