Buchholz, Ross Stop the Bleeding...For Now

Clay Buchholz continued to be the saving grace of an underperforming starting pitching staff with a 2-hit, complete game performance in a 3-2 Red Sox win over the Cleveland Indians at Progressive Field.

The victory snapped a 3-game losing streak for Boston and pulled the team to within 2 games of .500.

Buchholz (pictured) allowed a 1st inning home run to Asdrubal Cabrera and then allowed just one more hit the rest of the way; he did not walk a single batter while striking out 6.

The Red Sox tied the game at 1 in the top of the 4th inning when Dustin Pedroia singled home Mike Aviles. They took the lead two innings later on Cody Ross's 18th home run of the year which brought home Pedroia.

Boston 3rd baseman Will Middlebrooks left the game in the top of the 9th inning after being hit by a pitch. He was taken to an area hospital for x-rays.
