You Thought the Red Sox Would Sweep the Twins? Think Again.

Jamey Carroll's RBI single in the top of the 10th inning snapped a 5-5 tie as the Minnesota Twins beat the Red Sox 6-5 for the second night in a row at Fenway Park. For Carroll it was his 4th hit of the game The loss dropped the Red Sox below the .500 and did more damage to their attempts to make a serious run at one of the two American League Wild Card playoff spots.

The Red Sox had jumped out to a 5-1 lead in the bottom of the 3rd inning thanks in part to Cark Crawford's (pictured) 3-run homer off Twins starter Brien Duensing.

Felix Doubront pitched better than the linescore might indicate. He was charged with 5 runs on 8 hits and 4 walks over 5 innings; 4 of those runs came in the top of the th inning when he let an erratic strike zone by home plate umpire Mark Wegner get under his skin.
