Senor Papi Staying In BeanTown

The Red Sox have signed David Ortiz on a two year contract worth approximately $26 million. Ortiz will be 37on November 18th.

I don't know what to make of this deal. Ortiz is basically the only pride and joy we have left from the world series teams, but there is some speculation if he really is committed. He put up pretty good numbers last year  (.318 average, 23 home runs and 60 RBIs in 90 games), but from the Bobby Valentine interview on Costas Tonight, Valentine stated how Ortiz basically quit on the team once he realized they had no chance to make a run for it. I can understand he was probably fed up with all the crap, and maybe he just wanted to heal to 100% and start fresh in the winter.

Hopefully Papi puts up good numbers this year and can help this team compete for a playoff spot.
