Sox Still Looking at Ross

The signing of Johnny Gomes (right0 prompted some scuttlebutt that the Sox would not pursue Cody Ross (below). This is a completely ridiculous notion. For a time last year the Sox had Adrian Gonzalez playing the outfield. Granted that was during Jacoby's absence, but last I checked, a team can carry a few outfielders.

That said, if I were Ross's agent, I might be a little nervous about asking for three years (Gomes got two) and more than twice the money. (Though with the additional year, it's only 67% more money.)

Buster Olney reports that the Sox haven't ruled out Ross, which makes sense. It's probably just a slightly more difficult conversation now.
