And your Opening Day Red Sox starting pitcher is...

...still to be determined.  That said, if the performance Jon Lester gave on Sunday was any indication, he's up to the task should manager John Farrell finally make the announcement.

It's tempting to downplay anything that happens in March but it was heartening to see Lester so dominant against Tampa on St. Patrick's Day - 6 perfect innings with 6 K's and 53 of 79 pitches thrown for strikes.

The key appeared to be getting into a rhythym; Lester said after the game that he felt good early on in the outing and had both his fastball and curve working well. Farrell remarked that it was good to see Lester throwing the ball with confidence, something that really appeared to be missing for Jon in 2012.

Lester has allowed just 2 earned runs in 20 innings of work this spring. It's only March, and the games don't count. But for Red Sox fans looking for signs that 2013 holds some promise for the team, Jon Lester has been shining like a new diamond.
