Five Red Sox get cut, pack their bags

It appears to be moving day down in Fort Meyers; the Red Sox made five cuts today from the big league roster, dropping the number to 52. This is standard operating procedure, as the minor league Spring Training games start tomorrow. The cuts indicate that the players are no longer in contention for a spot on the major league roster -- not that most of them had much of a chance anyways.

The departed:
- Alex Hassan, OF,  Sox Prospects' #42 player, optioned to minor league camp, did not see any action with the club due to a stress fracture in his foot
- Mark Hamilton, 1B, reassigned, first casualty of the 1B bench competition, batted .158 in 12 games this Spring,
- Steven Wright, SP, Sox Prospects' #41 player, the knuckleball knuckled to the tune of a 8.59 ERA in 7.1 innings
- Juan Carlos Linares, OF, optioned to minor league camp, Sox Prospects' #36 player, batted .364 with one home run in 12 games
- Jeremy Hazelbaker, OF, optioned to minor league camp, Sox Prospects' #35 player, batted .357 with 2 doubles in 13 games
