Aceves optioned, Lavarnway called up


Following Wedneday's win over the Oakland A's at Fenway Park, the Red Sox announced they had optioned right-handed pitcher Alfredo Aceves to AAA Pawtucket and recalled catcher Ryan Lavarnway. With the move, it is now expected that John Lackey will start Sunday's game against the Houston Astros.

In 5 appearances this season, Aceves is 1-1 with an 8.66 ERA. His most recent appearance on Tuesday against Oakland was an absolute mess - 7 earned runs in 3.1 innings.
