Jerry Remy has nothing but praise for Mariano Rivera

Mariano Rivera’s achievements are enough for any fan to overlook which team he has spent his 19-year career with. Even Jerry Remy told WEEI’s Dennis & Callahan Wednesday morning that part of the reason he watched the All-Star Game was to see Rivera’s last appearance.

“It was great to see him come in and see him get the respect of both the American League and National League and the fans in New York,” Remy said. “You talk about a class act. Has there ever been a bad word said about this guy? Never. It’s a real rarity to see a guy like that.”

With 638 career saves, a 2.20 career ERA, and only 67 career home runs allowed, it’s safe to say he is one of the most impressive athletes of all time. And not only do you never hear a bad word about Rivera as Remy said, but you don’t hear much about him at all like you do some of his teammates.

Rivera has had an unbelievable career, and as much as we’d rather not see him as an asset to the Yankees, it’s great to see him come back from last season’s injury to have one last incredible season at 43 years old.
