The Red Sox announced this afternoon that third baseman Will Middlebrooks has been called back up from Triple A Pawtucket and is expected to be in the lineup this evening in Kansas City. Though he hit nine home runs while with Boston this year, Middlebrooks had struggled and was optioned to the minors on June 25.

He was twelve for thirty eight in his last ten games for the PawSox with two home runs and six RBI's. Overall, he was hitting .268 with ten home runs and thirty seven RBI's in forty five games for Pawtucket this season with an OPS of .791.

Brandon Snyder appears to have been placed on the 15-day disabled list to make room for Middlebrooks.
