With the game scoreless and two out in the top of the second, Max Scherzer intentionally walked Jackie Bradley Jr. to face Porcello with the bases loaded. Porcello cleared the bases with a booming double to left center to give Boston a 3-0 lead.

Porcello (pictured) went six innings for his 10th win of the season. He allowed just two hits, both solo home runs, while striking out five and walking two.

Mookie Betts hit his 21st home run of the year in the seventh and also threw out a runner at third in the second inning to help stop a Nationals threat.

Brock Holt led Boston with three hits.

Craig Kimbrel got the final four outs for his 25th save of the season.
