The long ball continues to be a problem for Red Sox starters - Nathan Eovaldi served up the 17th of the season for Boston pitchers - but Mookie Betts provided a two-out, two-strike, two-RBI double in the top of the ninth to help the Red Sox to a 6-3 win over Oakland Wednesday night.

The loss snapped a four-game losing streak for the defending World Champions.

Eovaldi went five innings in the no-decision outing, allowing three runs on four hits, four walks and three strikeouts. Matt Barnes was the winner in relief tossing 1.1 scoreless innings.

Blake Swihart led the Boston offense with three hits including a solo home run in the fifth.

Eduardo Rodriguez takes the mound Thursday afternoon in Oakland for the series finale before the team heads to Arizona for a weekend series.
