Oh, the Joy of Baseball's Winter Meetings

You never know what you'll find.

The meetings begin Monday, and according to one story I read last night, Brian Cashman is going to "feel around" about available pitchers. He said the Yankees do not need Albert Pujols, which I find reassuring. (George Steinbrenner would have offered Pujols Central Park.)

Meanwhile, Bobby Valentine is headed to meet David Ortiz. "Recruit" Ortiz, quoth the Globe. I'm a little surprised.

Finally, as you can conveniently watch here, Valentine hit it out of the park yesterday with the press. The talk radio guys were all a-flutter this morning -- which means, of course, that their wrath will be Biblical if he ever disappoints them.

All the big action last year was after the winter meetings, but before Christmas. Hold on to your seat belts -- or wear them, at least. I still don't think we'll see a dramatic move by the Sox, but we might.
