Sox-Yankee Detente

An uneasy truce prevails. The Red Sox are probably hoarding cash. Could the Yankees be doing the same?

The Yankees didn't even look at Albert Pujols, and they just glanced at Carlos Beltran. There is that relatively new stadium to pay for, I suppose.

If I were the Sox, I'd keep close watch on the Matt Garza talks. My gut is that the Yankees would have signed Garza earlier if they were really going there, but the louder the drumbeat for the Sox to sign him, the more likely it is that the Steinbrenners swoop in. Dad would have wanted it that way.

I'm a fan, so far, of Ben Cherington's measured approach. I'd like to know what the plan is, but for now I'm fairly confident that he has one.
