We Have Waaaaaays of Making You Play in Boston

I thought we did, anyway.

Edwin Jackson is going to the Nationals (the Nationals!), and Roy Oswalt seems adrift (the Rangers appear to be passing) but is no closer to our harbor.

What gives? Don't these people know the Sox are the Slightly Less Evil Empire? Do we need to bring in the floating torture device? (Oh wait -- that didn't work, even in the movie.)

I don't want to use the dirty word collusion, but it does seem like the Sox and Yankees have conspired, even accidentally, to keep costs down. Once they deem a player too expensive (as they did Jackson), the market for that player dries up rather quickly.

In one sense, it's fine. There is still a solid team here. In another sense, it's poor strategy (in my arrogant opinion) to make half-hearted offers. It leaves the door open for other offers. I see nothing wrong with standing pat, more or less, but if that's the goal, then there's no harm in saying it.

But I just work here ... and, please note, there will be little or no posting this weekend. I am not yet functional in my new location. Enjoy the Super Bowl. Don't drink and drive. Or text and walk.
