Bailey to take mound for the first time

Andrew Bailey will take the mound for the first time in a Red Sox uniform when the Red Sox host the Marlins at 1:35pm. A strained lat has kept Bailey from appearing this spring but since he's finally back let's take a look at some of his stats from last year.

Last year for the A's Bailey went 0-4 with a 3.24 ERA. Racking up 24 saves to only 2 blown and striking out 41 in 41.2 innings.

If you just look at Baileys skills it's clear that he can be a top 10 closer but injuries have been a problem for the 27 year old. During hi s career he has missed 16.9 percent of games. Luckily the Sox have depth with Melancon but it would be nice to see Bailey get a complete season under his belt considering the last time he did he went 6-3 with a 1.84 and 26 saves while striking out 9.8/9. The best part of all? He threw 83.1 innings as opposed to 47 and 41 the last two.

Good thing he came to the Sox because we have a great track record of keeping pitchers healthy the last few years. Oh, wait a second. Shit..
