Lester absolutely shoves, Sox win 6-0

Jon Lester absolutely dazzled against the Phillies today. Posting 10 strikeouts in 7 innings while giving up only 2 hits and not allowing a run. Lester had said that he felt great last time out but the numbers didn't back up those statements. This time, however, everything clicked for Lester and it's coming at the perfect time with only 9 days to go until Opening Day.

The Sox also got a first hand look at why it was a good idea to not trade for Joe Blanton as he got hit hard for 5 runs in 5 innings off of 7 hits. I'd take the guys fighting it out for the 5th spot over Blanton anyday. The guy has a history of injuries and just hasn't pitched well the last few years on a consistent basis.

Red Sox hittters had three home runs today hit by Dustin Pedroia (2), Cody Ross (3) and Mauro Gomez (2). Big Papi also had a run and an RBI. Hopefully he can get going here over these last couple of games and find a nice groove before the season opens.

Jonathan Papelbon did not pitch but was able to catch up with old teammates before the game. When Papelbon was asked what it will be like to face his old teammates when given the oppourtunity in May he responded with,
"I don't want to hear no texts. I don't want to get no texts. I want to be giving the texts," said Papelbon. "You know what I'm saying?"
I couldn't have said it better myself...

The Red Sox take on Tampa tomorrow at 1:15pm
