Catching Up

A few items of note:

I have to say, the 38 Studios story is becoming a minor dilemma. I didn't write about it at first because it simply wasn't a baseball story. But the longer it goes, the more it seems like we're ignoring it. I assure you we are not. I've gone through several tubs of popcorn watching the spectacle.

I was away for the weekend, but I see that Adrian Gonzalez is still in the outfield. OK, good for him for being a team player. I still think this move is somewhat risky and undesirable, and he should return to first as soon as they can fill the outfield. but if it works out great and I'm wrong, then it works out great and I'm wrong.

You may have heard people say that Justin Verlander, who starts tonight, is not as good as he was last year. That's probably true, but he's still second in wins above replacement in the American League, behind Josh Hamilton.

Detroit is 23-25, but they're likely better than their record (I think I can still say that, for another few weeks). Daniel Bard had a decent outing last time, except for a couple of long balls.

The Yankees have moved to third place, ahead of Toronto.

It looks like the Roy Oswalt melodrama has resumed .... but we saw this movie last winter, and I'd be really surprised if he ends up here. The Sox are mentioned, but never as leading contenders to sign him. And I don't know where they would put him if they did.
