How To Go From No-Hitter To 5-Run Deficit In No Time Flat

For the first 5 innings, Aaron Cook was unhittable. Literally. And given that Felix Hernandez of the Mariners had already tossed a perfect game earlier in the day (the 1st in Mariners history), you might have forgiven Red Sox fans for feeling a little giddy.

In retrospect, manager Bobby Valentine should have taken him out then.

The Orioles came from behind in beating the Red Sox 5-3 in Baltimore. Cook (pictured) did himself in by throwing what appeared to be a sure doubleplay comebacker into centerfield in the bottom of the 6th inning as the Orioles plated 5 runs. He was charged with all 5 runs on 3 hits and 3 walks.

Jacoby Ellsbury had two hits for the Red Sox who actually out-hit the Orioles 7-6.
