You Thought It Couldn't Get Any Worse? Wrong.

So let's see if we can get all this in.

On a day when Red Sox Nation continued to mourn the passing of John Michael Paveskovich, Josh Beckett was torched for 6 runs in 5.1 innings, a story from nearly three weeks ago about players complaining to ownership via text message broke by a writer most people claimed wasn't around the clubhouse, Sox beat writer Pete Abraham tweeted the Bruce Springsteen set list from Fenway Park, and Joe Haggerty continued to prove via twitter that he's a red rubber nose short of a clown suit (but at least he asks the "tough" questions, right?).

That about cover it?

Oh, yeah, the Red Sox lost to the Orioles 7-1 in the 1st game of the series against Baltimore.

Beckett (pictured) actually pitched pretty well through the 1st 5 innings allowing 2 runs on a pair of solo home runs. He received little support from his offense which banged out 11 scattered hits and had but one run to show for it.

The Orioles scored 5 times in the bottom of the 6th inning, 3 coming in via a Mark Reynolds 3-run blast off reliever Mark Melancon.

Four Red Sox - Jacoby Ellsbury, Dustin Pedroia, Cody Ross and Carl Crawford - had multi-hit games in the losing effort. The Sox left 12 men on base.
