"This Typifies the Season"

Just moments after BJ Upton slammed a 3-run blast off Vicente Padilla (in relief of closer Andrew Bailey) in the bottom of the 9th to complete a 6-run rally, Red Sox radio announcer Joe Castiglione summed it up the Red Sox 7-4 loss to Tampa in four words - "This typifies the season."

The Red Sox entered the bottom of the 9th with a 4-1 lead only to have Bailey and Padilla help pull defeat from the jaws of victory.

Clay Buchholz (pictured) outpitched Rays ace David Price with 7 shutout innings in which he gave up 4 hits and walked 2 while striking out 4.

Rookie Jose Iglesius had 3 hits including his 1st career home run; Ryan Lavarnway and Mauro Gomez each had a pair of hits.
