Just in: Boston Red Sox's David Ortiz will not be ready for opening day

The Red Sox hoped David Ortiz would wake up today and pass his medical staff's running exam. While he did some light jogging, Ortiz mentioned that he still felt some pain associated with his lower leg. How did he feel?
I don’t think I can play like that.If it gets better and it doesn’t bother me that much, yes, I’ll probably be able to deal with it.

The next logical question is when will he feel better? Its safe to say that Ortiz has been trying to get ready for opening day, but what he revealed today says it all to The Hopeful.
I have to get out of my mind the rushing (trying to be ready for Opening Day) thing, because that just gets me worse. I have to stick with the plan.

With Ortiz most likely not starting the season in the lineup, expect Mike Napoli to get the start as a DH and Daniel Nava and Mike Carp sharing time at first base.
