Power, anyone? Sox blast Jays 13-0

The Red Sox slammed 6 home runs - 3 of them by 3rd baseman Will Middlebrooks (pictured) - and received outstanding pitching from Jon Lester as they routed the Blue Jays 13-0 at the Rogers Centre. With the win, the Red Sox finished the road trip 4-2 taking 2 of 3 from the Yankees in New York and 3 of 4 from the Blue Jays.

Boston rapped out 15 hits including 4 by Middlebrooks who appears to be absolutely locked in. He hit 2 of his home runs off Toronto starting pitcher R.A. Dickey and the other off reliever Dave Bush. Jacoby Ellsbury, Daniel Nava and Mike Napoli also went deep for the Sox.

As for Lester, he was sparkling. He went 7 full innings, shutting Toronto down on 5 hits and no walks while striking out 6. His ERA dropped to 1.50 on the new season.

NOTES - It's a safe bet that the Sox will be VERY warmly received by the fans at tomorrow's home opener. Jose Iglesias was back in the lineup with a pair of hits after missing Saturday's game. David Ortiz will play in an extended spring training game tomorrow and may begin a rehab assignment later this week. The Red Sox still have not made an error in the field yet this season.
