It took extra innings but the Red Sox won their 3rd straight game, their second coming from behind late to pick up the win against the Twins tonight. Great starting pitching held the Twins to only 2 runs and 4 hits. Here are your 3 stars of the game:

Star 3: Johnny Gomes
The twins made the mistake of walking Stephen Drew in the 10th inning to load the bases and pitch to Gomes, who made them pay with a sacrifice fly. Gomes went 0-2 with the game winning RBI and scored game tying run in the 7th inning.
Star 2: Clay Buchholz
Again another fantastic game pitched by Buchholz ended in a no decision for him. While the team improved to 8-1 in games that he has started he is still 6-0 on the year. Buchholz went 7 innings giving up 2 runs on 4 hits. He struck out 9, walked 3 and threw 110 pitches.
Star 1: David Ortiz
Ortiz continued his destruction of opposing pitchers going 3-4 tonight. He knocked in his 23rd RBI of the year and brought his average up to .344. Ortiz drew a walk in the 10th inning that allowed Will Middlebrooks to sacrifice bunt that lead up to the sacrifice fly by Gomes.

The team winning the first game of the series against the Twins is a huge confidence boost. How do you think the team played tonight? Answer in the comments section below.
