Edwin Jackson frustrated Boston for seven innings and two other pitchers combined for fourteen strikeouts as the Padres beat the Red Sox 2-1 on Monday afternoon.

Wasted in the loss was a strong outing by starting pitcher Drew Pomeranz who gave up a two-run homer by Adam Rosales in the fourth inning. Pomeranz went 5.2 innings in the loss, allowing six hits and two walks while striking out five.

The lone Red Sox run came on a Chris Young (pictured) solo home run in the top of the eighth inning, his seventh of the year.
