A walk, a double, and an error in the bottom of the ninth inning combined to give the Oakland Athletics a 1-0 win over the Red Sox at the Coliseum on Sunday afternoon.
Pitching the ninth inning in a scoreless tie, Craig Kimbrel walked Danny Valencia to start the inning, followed by a Khris Davis double. Brock Holt misplayed the hit, allowing Valencia to score the winning run.
After two games of an absolutely relentless offensive onslaught, Boston could only manage six hits off Oakland starter Kendall Graveman in 6.1 innings. The A's bullpen kept the Red Sox hitless over the final 2.2 innings.
One day after Rick Porcello took a perfect game into the seventh inning, Eduardo Rodriguez (pictured) no-hit Oakland for 7.2 innings before Marcus Semien broke it up with an infield hit off Rodriguez's foot.
Rodriguez struck out five and walked two in the no-decision.
Dustin Pedroia and Yoan Moncada each had two hits for Boston.
