Remember Rick Porcello circa 2016?

He was on display at the Trop on Wednesday night as the Red Sox topped the Tampa Bay Rays 8-2. The win was the team's eighth in a row.

Porcello (pictured) held the Rays to two runs on four hits (including a pair of solo home runs) and two walks while striking out seven over six innings to pick up his sixth win of the year.

His best inning was the bottom of the fifth in which he threw nine pitches - all for strikes - and struck out the side.

Boston took a 1-0 lead in the third inning on an error that allowed Andrew Benintendi to score.

They added five more in the top of the fifth inning on a combination of an RBI single by Mookie Betts, a passed ball, a wild pitch, and a two-RBI single by Sandy Leon.

The Red Sox added another pair of runs in the top of the eighth on another error and a wild pitch.

Benintendi led Boston with three hits while Eduardo Nunez had a relatively quiet night with only two.

Dustin Pedroia was out of the lineup again after DHing on Tuesday night.
