The Return of Jeff F--king Francis
Struggling Jeff Francis (4-13, 4.76 ERA) takes the mound tonight for Kansas City. The last time the Red Sox faced him? Game 1 of the 2007 World Series against Colorado, a 13-1 drumming, en route to the four-game sweep.
Of course, Francis is best remembered in Boston for serving up Dustin Pedroia's lead-off home run in that game. When Coors Field security failed to recognize Pedroia later in the series, he produced this legendary quote (cleaned up by SI recently, but unforgettable):
Ask Jeff f--king Francis who the f--k I am. I'm the guy who hit a bomb and just ended their f--king season.
So, here's to hoping that the Muddy Chicken's reunion with Jeff Francis goes as well as the last encounter, and that Andrew Miller can walk fewer than 17 batters tonight.
