Welcome To the Show, Rook! Lavarnway Belts 2 In Sox 8-7 Win Over O's

Rookie catcher Ryan Lavarnway's first two career home runs helped propel the Boston Red Sox to an absolutely necessary 8-7 win over the Orioles in Baltimore. Playing in place of a banged-up Jarrod Saltalamacchia, Lavarnway hit a 3-run shot in the 4th and a solo blast in the 8th.

The Red Sox got on the board in the top of the 3rd inning when Jacoby Ellsbury hit his 32nd home run of the season; Marco Scutaro hit a 2-run homer of his own in the 6th. Alfredo Aceves (10-2) got the win in relief of Erik Bedard. Jonathan Papelbon earned his 31st save of the season.

With the Rays coming from behind against the Yankees, Game #162 for both teams tomorrow means everything.
