Source: Big Papi will Re-Sign with Boston

ESPN
A Red Sox source said Tuesday that "one way or another" he expects free-agent designated hitter David Ortiz to return to Boston for the 2012 season.

That would mean Ortiz either accepts what is believed to be a two-year deal from the club or accepts salary arbitration by Wednesday's midnight deadline.

The 36-year-old Ortiz has repeatedly expressed a desire to remain in Boston, and the Red Sox last week offered him arbitration.

On Friday, new Red Sox manager Bobby Valentine made a trip to the Dominican Republic, where Ortiz was hosting a charity golf tournament. Ortiz was apparently flattered and impressed by the visit.
