Extending the Bud Horizon

Commissioner Bud Selig is getting his contract extended to 2014.

In 2014, he will be 80. And presumably eligible for free agency.

Selig had been expected to retire at the end of 2012. So reading between the lines here, my guess is that the other owners preferred keeping Bud to having a succession fight.

Or he's just stubborn, and no one tells him no.
