Proper Compensation

The Associated Press is reporting tonight that the Red Sox and Cubs have submitted written arguments to commissioner Bud Selig regarding their idea of proper compensation for Theo Epstein.

"O Most Wise Lord of Baseball, I am pleased to present our written arguments regarding our idea of proper compensation ... "

Or, you know, "Hey Bud! We wuz (or We are being) robbed!"

I repeat, I expect an overly broad ruling and a bad precedent. But I'll be happy to be wrong.

I'm also wondering why he needed the arguments in writing. Was he hoping one team would be too busy and lose by default?
