Valentine already doing what he does best

Bobby Valentine didn't miss any time inserting himself into the Red Sox/ Yankees rivalry.

During his Tuesday presser Valentine lobbed a couple shots towards two of  the Yankees main guys - endorsing Varitek's fight with A-Rod  and questioning Jeter's backhanded flip on a botched relay throw in the playoffs against Oakland.

What started out as a praising of Varitek ended up being a semi-shot towards A-Rod.

"From afar, he was everything you want a guy who wears a 'C' to be," Valentine said of the longtime Red Sox captain. "He was a man's man, he was a big hitter when needed, he was the leader of the pitching staff. [Pause] He was able to beat up Alex, all that stuff. He was exactly what he was supposed to be.''
No problem with this what so ever. What Valentine said sounds exactly like what your catcher/captain should embody.

On the Jeter front Bobby V went as far to say -
"We'll never practice that," Valentine said. "I think [Jeter] was out of position and the ball gets [Giambi] out if [Jeter] doesn't touch it, personally."

I don't agree with Valentine on this one and I'm sure people everywhere will feel the same way but I am 100% behind the motive.

As fans we should expect the quotes to keep rolling all season. Valentine is a media guru who has spent the last few years polishing his already impressive skills working for ESPN. He knows that the more quotes and dust he can kick up the more he can get the focus on this season and the new hope that comes with it.

It's going to be a fun ride this year and Bobby Valentine is going to make sure that he is driving the ship the whole way.
