Decoding MLB's Logic

Imagine that you are a strategic planner for Major League Baseball, and before you there are two proposals. One is to impose instant replay. The other is to change your playoff system by moving from eight teams to 10.

One raises concerns among fans, some of which are well articulated here by Pete Mastors. There's one advantage to instant replay, though -- you can bring it in selectively. You could experiment with it for a season and then shelve it.

But the other proposal can never be undone. Baseball will take a step closer to being like the other three sport$ and having too many playoff team$. There are implication$ that mu$t be thought through.

$hould you convene a ta$k force? Thi$ decision mu$t be carefully con$idered, and you wouldn't want your judgment clouded by out$ide influen$ or an$ $$$$$$ $$ or $$$$ o be $ure $$$$$$$ $$ $$$$$$$ $$$$$ $$ $$$$$$$ $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$.

$crew it. Roll the dice. Damn the torpedoe$. Instant replay might improve the game, but that can wait. More playoff$!
