Shoppach homers as Sox get blown out

FORT MYERS, Fla. -- Kelly Shoppach launched his first homer and right-hander Daniel Bard was strong in four of his five innings during the Red Sox's 9-2 loss to the Blue Jays on Tuesday night at JetBlue Park.
"There's a lot of good stuff to build on, I think," said Bard, who is looking to win a spot in Boston's rotation. "Obviously I'd like to have that second inning back. I think I learned some good things."
Bard gave up three hits and three runs, walking three and striking out two while throwing 83 pitches. The three runs Bard allowed occurred during a second-inning jam in which Toronto loaded the bases with nobody out.

I'd love to complain about Bard's consistency but this really wasn't a bad outing at all.

Shoppach needs to continue to step up.

Big Papi went 0-3 and is really starting to make me nervous.

I have to run out the door but I'll have much more in a couple hours. Lot's of stuff to talk about, Sox fans.
