Luke Scott calls Fenway a "dump"
From ESPN Boston:
For a guy like Luke Scott to think that anyone actually gives a shit about what he thinks of Fenway Park is certainly an odd thing, but this poor man's Matt Stairs does actually bring up some good points.
It must be frustrating as a player to have to not be able to go through your regular routine because the stadium just doesn't have the facilities. As great of a job as the owners have done to make the park more accommodating for fans, they've done next to nothing to make it better for players. It's something the organization is going to have to work on going forward but they need to keep in mind - like they did with the other renovations - that Fenway Park hold's a certain nostaglia that should never be tampered with.
So, sorry "Luke Scott" but your going to have to put up with the same conditions that players have had to deal with for the past 100 years at Fenway. Maybe they'll change their entire facilities around for a career .265 hittter in Baltimore, but not here chief. Here we hold ourselves to a higher standard then you do down in "Baltimore". I've seen The Wire. I know what goes on down there.
Just be quiet and try to bounce back from last year, pal. Because if I were you I'd be more worried about being on the Camden Riversharks roster by the end of the season than whether or not I could get my work in. I've used their facilities before and trust me - your not missing out.
Tampa Bay Rays designated hitter Luke Scott told MLB.com he thought Fenway was “a dump” as the club prepares to kick off its 100th season in the ballpark.
"As a baseball player, going there to work, it's a dump," said Scott, whose Rays play the Red Sox on Friday in their Fenway opener. "I mean, it's old. It does have a great feel and nostalgia, but at the end of the day, I'd rather be at a good facility where I can get my work in. A place where I can go hit in the cage. Where I have space and it's a little more comfortable to come to work.
"You're packed in like sardines there. It's hard to get your work in. ... You have to go to their weight room if you want to lift. From a fan's perspective, it's probably pretty cool to go see a game at a historic park. But from a player's point of view, it's not a place where you want to go to work."
