Maybe they should go back to eating chicken & drinking beer

Francona must be saying, "See, we were overachieving in September!" In all seriousness, Sox aren't this bad. Still 159 games to go. The closer position is an issue though. I pretty much knew we couldn't replace Papelbon with a cheaper option from Oakland. Billy Beane isn't just going to give us a quality 27 year old, cost controlled closer. He gave him up because he's fragile.

I'm a little worried that with all the criticism of the underperforming big money guys in 2011, that the Sox owners have reacted by saying, "If you're going to give us grief for overpaying guys, we're just going to lower our payroll." Who did we go after this past Winter? I know Papelbon and Drew came off the books and the Sox also dumped Lowrie and Scutaro's contracts. Who did we add again?
