Winning Streak Ends As Red Sox Fall 4-1 To the White Sox

Chicago starter Gavin Floyd held the Red Sox hitless through 6.1 innings while Josh Beckett (pictured) was touched for 3 runs in the bottom of the 1st inning as the White Sox beat Boston 4-1, snapping a 6-game winning streak for the Red Sox.

Beckett pitched reasonably well, getting 2 outs into the 7th inning before giving way to Scott Atchison. He allowed 2 of the 3 runs on an Adam Dunn home run(his 5th of the season), one of 6 hits he gave up. Beckett struck out 8 while walking only 1.

Dustin Pedroia broke up the no-hitter in the top of the 7th with a 1-out single off Floyd. David Ortiz doubled him over to third where he scored on an RBI single by Cody Ross.

With the win, Floyd is now 7-0 lifetime against the Red Sox.

NOTES - Following his strong outing at AA Portland yesterday, the Red Sox announced that Daisuke Matsuzaka's next rehab start will be with AAA Pawtucket.

Late scratches for the game included Boston's Kevin Youkilis (tight lower left back) and Chicago's Paul Konerko (stiff neck).

The White Sox wore 1972 throwback uniforms with red pinstripes; they're doing that for 13 Sunday home games in 2012.
