Lester, Sox Slammed By Rays 7-4

Not exactly the way you want to start a homestand after a terrific road trip. Jon Lester allowed 7 runs on 3 home runs, one a grand slam by Matt Joyce, and was gone after 4 innings as the Red Sox fell to the Rays 7-4 at Fenway Park.

Boston jumped out to a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the 1st inning on an RBI single by Kevin Youkilis that scored Mike Aviles. Lester served up the grand slam to Joyce in the top of the 3rd, and a pair of home runs in the top of the 4th inning as the Rays won their 3rd straight game.

The Red Sox offense was very stagnant, managing only 4 hits off a combination of starter Alex Cobb and 5 Tampa relief pitchers.
