Nava, Shoppach, Podsednik Power Sox To Series Win Over Orioles

Daniel Nava and Kelly Shoppach hit home runs in the top of the 6th inning, Daniel Bard (pictured) pitched into the bottom of the 6th inning, and Scott Podsednik added an insurance run with a solo home run in the 8th to help push the Red Sox to a 6-5 victory and a series win over the 1st place Baltimore Orioles at Camden Yards. With the win, the Red Sox also climbed back to the .500 mark.

Bard allowed a pair of runs, one of them on a home run by Baltimore designated hitter Nick Johnson who would hit another home run later in the game off Red Sox reliever Andrew Miller. He gave up 5 hits and walked 4 while only striking out 2. Alfredo Aceves, one of 4 Red Sox relievers on the afternoon, got the final four outs for his 11th save of the season.

Kevin Youkilis, Daniel Nava, Kelly Shoppach, Scott Podsednik and Will Middlebrooks each had 2 hits. David Ortiz was the only starter without a hit.

NOTES - With the win, the Red Sox finished the road trip with a 5-2 record and they've won 10 of their last 13 games. The win was also the 1st of Bard's career against the O's.

Red Sox hitters 6 through 9 in the lineup were a combined 8 for 13 with a pair of walks. They drove in 5 runs.

The Red Sox are now 4-5 in 1-run games.
