Perfecto

Matt Cain has pitched the first perfect game in San Francisco Giants history. That's really saying something, because the Giants were founded in 1883.

It's the second perfect game of this season, and there haven't been two perfect games in the same season since ... well, since 2010, when Dallas Braden and Roy Halladay each threw one.

It's still an elite feat, though. Wikipedia lists 22, counting two in 1880, before the modern era. Nolan Ryan has seven no-hitters, and no perfect games. Sandy Koufax has four no-hitters (in consecutive seasons), and only one perfect game.

No pitcher has two of them. Think about that for a second. I'll wait.

So, did a Sox pitcher ever throw a perfect game? Yep, in 1904. Some guy named Cy Young.
