Beckett Was Pitching. Did You Really Expect A Win?

In his defense, he received little to no help from his offense, but once again, Josh Beckett gave up a 1st-inning run (his ERA in the 1st inning in 2012 is over 9) en route to a 4-1 loss to the Yankees in the Bronx.

Beckett (pictured) was tagged for all 4 runs on 7 hits including two doubles by Derek Jeter and a pair of solo home runs by Ichiro Suzuki. He walked 3 and struck out 6 as his record dropped to 5-11.

Hiroki Kuroda limited the Red Sox to just 4 hits over 8 innings; the lone Boston run came on Adrian Gonzalez's 15th home run of the year in the top of the 7th inning.
