Dempster, Rangers Dump Sox
For the first half of Tuesday night's game the Red Sox and Rangers were locked in a 0-0 pitcher's duel between Jon Lester and Ryan Dempster. Texas scored a pair of runs in the 6th and 7th innings and padded the lead with insurance runs in the 8th and 9th in beating the Red Sox 6-3 at Fenway Park.
Boston's 3 runs were courtesy of a pinch-hit home run by Will Middlebrooks (pictured) in the bottom of the 7th off Dempster.
For the first 5 innings, Lester looked as good as he has in a very long time allowing just 2 hits while striking out 3. Ultimately, he went 6.2 innings and was charged with 4 runs on 6 hits with 4 strikeouts and a pair of walks. He still has not recorded a win since last June.
Dustin Pedroia was ejected for the 2nd time in his career by 1st base umpire Paul Nauert in the top of the 9th inning.
