Seems Someone Took "Pitch To Contact" Too Literally
Zach Stewart may turn out to be a terrific Major League pitcher. His debut performance with the Red Sox was, to be kind, less than memorable. Stewart (pictured) lasted only 3 innings allowing 9 runs on 10 hits while striking out 2.
Seven of the 10 hits went for extra bases including 5 doubles and a pair of home runs.
Silver lining? At least he didn't walk anyone.
Angels starter C.J. Wilson scattered 8 hits over 6 innings in allowing 3 runs. Mauro Gomez and Mike Aviles accounted for 5 of those 8 hits.
Jacoby Ellsbury went hitless, ending a streak of 6 games where he had at least 2 hits.
Stewart, acquired from the White Sox in the Kevin Youkilis trade, was sent back to AAA Pawtucket after the game.
