Bobby Goes Boom...oh, and Sox Lose, Too
Coming off Tuesday's 4-3 win over Seattle, you would have thought the mood around the Red Sox might have brightened a bit.
That was before Bobby Valentine made some rather bizarre comments during an interview on WEEI Wednesday afternoon. Seattle's Kevin Millwood held the offense to just 1 run on 4 hits and 3 walks over 6 innings in a 2-1 loss to the Mariners. For Millwood it was his first win since late July.
Cody Ross was really the lone bright spot with 3 hits including his 28th double of the year. Dustin Pedroia was held hitless, ending his 15-game hitting streak.
.Aaron Cook (pictured) pitched very well, allowing 2 runs on 7 hits and 2 walks over 6 innings. He also struck out 5.
Boston finished the road trip with a 1-8 record; they're just 10-24 since August 1st. Following an off day on Thursday, the Sox return home to face the Blue Jays on Friday. It will be interesting to see what kind of reception the team receives.
