3 Stars of the game: Game 25
The brooms were out in Fenway Park as the Red Sox completed the sweep of the Houston Astros to improve their record to 18-7. The 4 game sweep brought their win streak to 5 games and the team has won 6 of the 8 series that they have played so far. Lackey pitched will in his return from the disabled list and the offense provided enough runs for the team to win comfortably. Here are your 3 stars of the game:
Star 3: David Ortiz
Ortiz continued to perform well at the plate today, starting off the scoring and ending the scoring for the Red Sox. He went 2-4 with 2 RBI's. His double in the second inning was his 5th on the season. Ortiz is energizing the offense and they have only lost 1 game with him being back, a game that he was not in the lineup for.
Star 2: John Lackey
Welcome back Lackey, your time on the DL was well spent and you proved a lot of people wrong with your performance today. Farrell wanted to get 5 solid innings out of Lackey but instead Lackey gave him 6 innings. Over these 6 innings he allowed 1 run on 5 hits. Lackey struck out 4, and walked 2. Lackey only threw 81 pitches but 56 of them found the strike zone.
Star 1: Daniel Nava
Daniel Nava is currently hotter than lava, wow sorry that was really cheesy. Nava provided lots of the offense today going 2-4. He scored 3 runs and was a great glove in the outfield. He ended the game that deserves to be a Web Gem on Baseball Tonight, and also a top 10 play on Sportcenter. Nava played great today and is patrolling right field well while Shane Victorino is currently day-to-day.
What did you think about the Red Sox performance against the Astros this series. Right now I'd love to see these two teams play games much more often. Do you agree with these 3 players being the stars of the game? Let me know in the comments below or on twitter.
