Buchholz, Papi help Sox knock Astros around
If indeed John Farrell was hired by the Red Sox to get Jon Lester and Clay Buchholz straightened out, then consider the process to be a smashing success so far. One night removed from Lester's 4th win of the season, Buchholz dominated the Houston Astros 7-2 to become the 1st 5-game winner in the Major Leagues this season.
Buchholz (pictured) went 7.2 innings allowing 2 runs on 6 hits and a pair of walks while striking out 10.
Boston rapped out 11 hits including a 3-hit performance from David Ortiz who launched his first home run of the season in the bottom of the 3rd inning off Houston starter Philip Humber.
Daniel Bard pitched a scoreless 9th inning to close out the win for Buchholz.
