The Night The Sellout Streak will Finally Die

Today, Wednesday April 10th, the forecast calls for a temperature of 55 degrees and a 40 percent chance of rain. The Red Sox are anticipating a crowd of around 30,000 fans. Most clubs in Major League Baseball would be doing backflips at attracting such a crowd on cool, rainy weeknight with kids still in school, especially a last place club. In Boston it means the sellout streak will come to an end.

We all know the streak has been over for a long time. Waiting for the Red Sox to acknowledge as much has been like waiting for an ill, elderly relative to finally succumb. For die-hard fans a sense of relief should come with the streak's merciful end. I look forward to going to more games this year and paying less to do so.
